Sandefjord is home to the Skagerak International Kindergarten, part of the IB Primary Years Programme, offering a bilingual environment where children receive a high-quality international education. Open kindergartens provide a free service for all families with young children living in the municipality. There's no need to apply for a spot in the open kindergarten.

Sandefjord's kindergartens are staffed by highly qualified professionals, with an impressive 91.5% meeting the pedagogue standard, significantly higher than the national average of 70.9%. The municipality also exceeds the national average in the number of staff with nursery teacher training.
